Built around a VIVID central opal with particularly good play of colour from bright red, right through the rainbow spectrum, to deep blue and purple. The goldwork is wonderfully intricate and studded with bright pinkish red rubies. It probably started life as a lace pin, or brooch, or stud, or something, the pendant bail having been added later.
