I tried to research the Navy contract number and found conflicting information as to whether it is wartime or postwar

There is also a gold paper Luftwaffe eagle glued inside next to the inscription. The book itself is copyrighted 1917. It is solid but dirty with some staining, discoloration and water damage. The title page is ripped and loose.
