I hadn’t been back to my hometown in Wisconsin for decades

and I painted this over a panel that I initially tinted with reds and earth tones to contrast with all of the summer green

Each day brings me more inspiration, but Im already brimming with plenty of ideas to spare. When I finally focus myself on an idea at my easel, my process often includes exploring it in a small study first, just to see if I like it and whether it would be worth creating in a larger scale. I initially explored Harlems Apollo Theater in a small study a few years ago.
